The Bel Air Farmers' Market opens on Saturday, April 11th, from 7am-11am.

We can't wait to welcome a new season at the market!! The Saturday market location remains the same, on the corner of Thomas and Bond Streets in downtown Bel Air, in the Mary Risteau parking lot. See our sidebar for more detailed directions and maps. There is convenient parking located all around the market grounds.

The Tuesday Market location has changed to Boulton Street and Route 24, near Best Buy and the Harford Mall. The Tuesday market opening has yet to be determined. We'll announce the official opening here.

Be sure to check back soon to the Farmers' Market website as we make changes and updates for the new season.

I'm excited that the market is back for the season, so I made sure to be at the first one (even in the rain) on Saturday.

I usually have a great time, but on Saturday I was disappointed not by the weather, but by encountering a vendor (whose name I unfortunately cannot remember) whose truck bumper prominently bore (among other items) a rather homophobic bumper sticker expressing intolerance for same-sex marriage.

I'm not in the business of restricting anyone's speech, political or otherwise, and the owner of the truck is within their rights to decorate their vehicle as they please, but it is disheartening to encounter this at an event which has such community-building potential. I'm sure that the vendors and organizers of the market would like to encourage everyone in the Bel Air community to visit and participate, and in my experience, this sort of display makes many people (both gay and straight) feel unwelcome.

I'm wondering what your thoughts (or those of whoever organizes the market) are on this, and how you think we all might foster a more welcoming environment at the market.
